A Bouncer At An Elite Saloon Discovers Why Alcohol Poisoning Symptoms And Signs Can Save An Individual's Life
Just a week ago, Ryan applied for a job as a bouncer at one of the local nightspots. He had studied karate, gatka, ninjitsu, aikido, and judo for twelve years; he was a weight lifter; he took daily vitamins, minerals, and supplements; he was into healthy eating and health foods; and he seemed well suited for such a position. When Ryan got notification that he had been chosen for the job, he was extremely happy. Since this was an exclusive discotheque, however, he had to go through a seven week instructional class.
On the first day of class, the teacher started talking about drinkers who drink abusively and what the bartenders, barmaids, and bouncers should do when this condition arises. When the instructor started speaking about alcohol poisoning, Ryan was delighted to learn that all of the new bartenders, barmaids, and bouncers had to learn about an alcohol overdose and precisely what they should do when they observed a person who was showing evidence of alcohol poisoning symptoms or displaying the signs of alcohol overdose.
More explicitly, all the new employees learned that nausea and vomiting were almost without exception one of the first signs of alcohol poisoning and that unconsciousness was perchance the most highly visible alcohol overdose symptom or sign. The trainer went out of his way to emphasize the fact that alcohol poisoning symptoms were signals from the body and from the brain that the drinker had ingested more alcohol than his or her body can metabolize.
There were, nonetheless, more than a few other signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning that all the new bartenders, barmaids, and bouncers were taught to be conversant with. For instance, the students in the class were made aware that people who suffer from alcohol poisoning exhibit confusion, often have seizures, are difficult to awaken, and they exhibit poor reflex responses.
Not only this but, the students in the class learned that many drinkers who suffer from alcohol poisoning also exhibit little response from painful stimuli, for instance from pinching; slurred speech; blue tinged or pale skin; and slow, shallow or irregular breathing.
To highlight the effect that binge drinking has on alcohol poisoning, the lecturer told the members in the class that a person who gets smashed just a few times per year is, by definition, involving himself or herself in alcohol abuse. Such an individual, however, is in all probability not an alcoholic, but is more likely than not engaging in binge drinking. As articulated by the trainer, engaging in binge drinking even once, unfortunately, can lead to an alcohol overdose that in some situations can be lethal.
The instructor then told the class that the most fitting response for alcohol poisoning is the following: if it is suspected that a drinker has alcohol poisoning, call 911 and ask for emergency medical assistance, even if the drinker is underage. By taking this course of action, the drinker will get the prompt alcohol poisoning medical attention he or she needs.
After learning about alcohol poisoning and particularly about the signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning, it can be emphasized, Ryan realized that he had learned some important information that might save a person's life in the foreseeable future. Undeniably, Ryan learned that knowledge of the typical alcohol poisoning symptoms and signs and knowing how to quickly and properly respond to such symptoms and signs (by immediately calling 911 and asking for urgent medical assistance) can help a drinker avoid a deadly alcohol overdose.
